Our first grade curriculum is undergoing some changes! In a month or two we will be adding a new Language arts program to our curriculum! This new curriculum will replace the current courses: Language, Reading, Handwriting, Spelling.
The new Language Arts program is all inclusive. That means it combines all the individual courses into 1 mega course. This course is based on 8 thematic units. For those of you familiar with Adventist education, this new course is part of the Pathways program.
Components of this course include:
-Eight thematic readers. These books are non-fiction books and help teach moral values while also being entertaining for each child.
- Booklets- these are books that go with the theme. Most of these books are black and white and printed on standard copy paper. This allows the child to color each picture as they see fit, helping them to take interest in their reading.
- Two instructional guides. This course is divided into two semesters. If you are enrolling for the full year you will need both!
